Babies and Mommas for Obama! November 4, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — charmleyfamily @ 11:57 pm

Well today is election day, a day of hopes, and fears and mostly, for me, a feeling of responsibility as a citizen for where our country is heading. So this morning, while it was a chilly 44 degrees outside, I bundled up Lexsey, and headed to the poles at 6:55 am, so that we could be among the first to place our vote for Obama.

Lexsey of course, being a baby for OBAMA, wanted to place her vote too, but the pollsters said she would have to be 18 months old, so alas…she must wait.

But, the message was received- we need change, as much as she needs her diaper changed.

We then came home and played for awhile, Lexsey and I took a nice nap on the couch while we waited for Daddy to wake up and go to the polls too. When she woke up, we decided that it would be a wonderful breakfast to have some blueberry yogurt, which she promptly picked up and dumped all over

, and had an absolute blast playing with. I think I got the message that she wants solids, because she was holding her yogurt cup and drinking the yogurt that was left over out of it.

Time for more table food kid- message received.

After Daddy Charmley placed his vote for Obama too, we headed to lunch, and then to Lexsey’s 9 month doctors appointment. Her doctor loved her Obama button, and swore up and down to her she didn’t have to convince him to vote Obama with all of her babbling, he had already done so. LMAO. She weighed in at 17 lbs exactly (25%), and is 27 1/4 inches long (50%) with a head circ. of 45 1/2 cm. Her hemoglobin was 13.6, which is fantastic, a relief to me that she is doing great with her food intake. She got two shots, her last Polio and her 1st of 2 Flu shots. Poor kid. Right now she is resting.

Well we have had an eventful day. Momma is off to clean the house while little bumpkin naps, and then up late to watch for results. GO OBAMA!

The princess, the flood and the tired mom November 4, 2008

So this is my first attempt at starting a blog, well maybe not my first, but hopefully my first successful attempt for all of the friends and family who are far away.

This weekend started our wintery season here. We don’t have fall anymore, I swear we just have hot nasty summer and cold wet winter. Gone are our times at the park ,because its raining, and who wants gigantic oak trees that are prone to dropping limbs swaying above your gorgeous baby? not me. So we will just chill in the house, me the princess, and the flood outside.

I have learned there are many challenges to staying indoors with an active little crawling baby.

#1 They get bored

#2 Bored= Getting into everything

#3 Being bored and teething = really clingy!

#4 Cuddling and taking a nap because its rainy is SOO not even an option when the little one has things to explore.

So we play with toys, Lexsey gets into things, and I watch the rain fall outside,

wishing it was either snow or sunshine, not the wet mess in between. When did I become the paranoid mom that can’t stand driving in the rain because people are crazy? When did I start shaking my fist at crazy rainy day drivers and swearing that if they hit me I might just have to kill them? I think it all started almost a year ago when Lexsey was born, and she became my heart and soul.

So, if you happen to be driving down a cold rainy street in Chico one day, and see my car. Steer clear, Im tired, cranky, and head over heels in love with my little girl. Im a dangerous combo of motherly fierceness and ER nurse fatigue. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
